firsts.
Yesterday was a day filled with "firsts."
1. Carly had her first day of school. After much deliberation, we decided to forgo the International School and we enrolled her in a Chilean private school. Carly's class is the first to have an all English Curriculum. Our hopes are that she learns Spanish from the other students (she is the only English speaking student in Pre-Kinder) yet continues to learn and excel in her native language.
**The pictures without her uniform were from yesterday (first day of school.) They were celebrating a birthday and they were allowed to wear their street clothes. The pictures of her in her uniform are from today.
2. I went to my first Ex-pat Tea. We're a group of about 8 women from all walks of life and all parts of the world (3 Americans, 1 Italian, 1 Romanian, 1 Australian, 1 Belgian, and 1 Surinamese.) It was nice to talk to other women who have "been there, done that" and completely understand what I'm going through. The good news is that they've all been in Chile for more than a year and they've enjoyed their experiences here.
3. We experienced our first black out. Our Apart-Hotel is still going through construction and we were notified that we would be without power from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Then, to add insult to injury, at about 8:00 pm, half of the city experienced a black out (hence no post yesterday.) Luckily we had already bathed the kids so we all went to bed a little early. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise because I needed those extra couple of hours of sleep.
I'll leave you with what I've been watching as I posted... a fĂștbol game on the beach!

That will be fun for Carly to go to school in another country. It will be a good experience. The blackouts were probably pretty inconvenient. Hope they don't continue.
i hate blackouts! sorry about those, but the rest seems pretty amazing. carly is seriously SO pretty! i can't believe how grown up she is.
Aww, look how cute she is! It is so hard to send your baby off to schol -- I can't imagine how hard it must be to send her in a foreign country!!!
SO cute, what a fun little adventure.
i love the view - and the uniform!
