boos & boo-hoos.
Our first Halloween in Chile was a semi-success. Carly dressed up as a fairy princess (adorable) and Wesley was a penguin... for about 20 seconds (and what a cute 20 seconds they were). From the time we bought Wes his costume, I've been trying to persuade him to wear it. My technique went something like this-
Well, I tried. Carly couldn't get dressed fast enough and Wesley couldn't get un-dressed fast enough! After Wesley's tearful tantrum, Ammon and Carly went to our Bishop's house for a Halloween party while I stayed home with a cranky and sleepy Wes.
Ammon and Carly returned home a little before midnight and Ammon said the party was still in full-swing. Although this was only the 4th year that Chileans have celebrated Halloween, they've really caught on to the festivities.
Me: Wesley, are you so excited to wear your penguin costume!?
Wes: (shaking his head no)
Me: You're going to look so cute as a penguin!
Wes: (again, shaking no)
Me: If you wear your costume, you'll get candy!
Wes: (pauses... then shakes his head no)

wow, that looks so fun! what a pretty fairy princess. and that penguin costume is awesome! maybe your next little boy will like it?
Love the costumes! Carly looks like an angel. I remember boo-hooing myself one year because Mom made me wear a sweater & I didn't want to because it covered my gypsy costume. Silly kids huh?!
could they BE any cuter? that picture of wesley reminds me of the picture of carly and her orinthophobia (fear of ducks) you feel sorry for them for crying, but can't help laughing a little because it's so cute!
Carly is so beautiful!
She reminds me so much of you, Lynette!
Your night at home with Wesley actually sounds nice to me.
I need to catch up on some sleep.
dave just looked at this and goes, "that girl is CUTE" about carly. just thought you'd like to know.
Carly looks like she's about 15! And I love that you captured Wesley crying. That is priceless! I'm glad you had so much fun!
I love the kids pix...Carly is so beautiful and Wesley's picture is one we'll remember and laugh about in years to come...we miss you, wish you were here, Love, Mom B
You tell the best stories even in your blog you make me laugh! I love the pictures of Wes, too funny. And Carly is so big and looks so much like you these days! Hope all is well! hugs, Angie
So Fun! Its funny because I noticed the difference in cultures here as well. In Josh's Dads neighborhood, where they are mostly "american" I guess you could say - by 9:00 the streets were almost dead and everyone was done for the night, and then when we came back to our neighborhood where lets just say the demographic is a little different, they were just getting out of their cars to start the rounds with their three year olds at 10 oclock. For me personally I much more enjoy the night owl life style, but for my kids I sure do enjoy having them in bed by 8.
Carly & Wesley look so cute, except for the crying part. Carly makes a great fairy and Wesley makes a great duck.
