stuck. in a rut.
I haven't posted lately, but you knew that. I've been in a rut. A rut. What is a rut, exactly? Webster's Dictionary says:
1. A groove or furrow (especially one in soft earth caused by wheels).
2. A settled and monotonous routine that is hard to escape; "they fell into a conversational rut".
3. Applies to nonhuman mammals: a state or period of heightened sexual arousal and activity.
According to these definitions I've been experiencing the #2 kind of rut (hehe, I just said #2) and Webster is right, it is hard to escape. And what's up with definition #3? Uh, I think "rut" might be the wrong word there! Mercy Pearl!
Truth be told, I think I'm homesick and bored and nothing in my ordinary, day to day existence seems blog worthy. My kids are being oddly obedient so there are no wild, outlandish stories to share. Chile is still 70 degrees, mild and sunny, with no chance of rain. They still speak Spanish here which means I'm clueless 99% of the time. Ok, well maybe I understand a bit more than that, but not much, I swear. And, I'm still... well me. Nothing new. Nothing exciting. Just me. So, this is the reason for no new posts, nothing worth sharing I guess. So, any post ideas? What inspires your posts? Is there anything you want to know about my boring, monotonous life? Leave me a comment, because after all, that's the real reason I do this blog. To hear from you... my friends.

lynette, i'm sorry you're in a rut. I'm homesick too, though I think you win in the who's more homesick race. (If that's any consolation).
i love your blogs because they're lynette, and because they're filled with your spirit and personality.
i suggest a random blog, like i did awhile ago. it doesn't and shouldn't have any news, just musings, rants, complaints, praises, etc.
it's not what's new in your life that makes us read (though we love that too) it's just you and your way of seeing and saying things!
austin,
you made me blush and then smile. thanks.
I know what you mean!
I know something you could post...
You could clue me in on LOST!
I just watched the new one and have to admit I still have no idea what's going on. Kamron is the real LOST follower and I've learned to just not ask questions anymore.
This morning I listened to a great talk I downloaded while I was getting ready. I was feeling "ruttish" this morning and it was just the pick me up I needed. I found it from my friend, Stevie's blog... she has a link for BYU talks. It was a Talk from Robert H. Todd "What do you want to be when you grow up".
ANyways, I agree with Austin...
we love you for being YOU.
:)
#3 - what the?!
your boring is more exciting then my normal - so post on.
complain about chile a bit - i like all the good stuff, but i want to hear why it isn't :)
i want to hear your funny stories. like the one you left on my blog about the snow in provo on your way to temple recommend interviews. every time i was around you you always had the most hilarious stories about every day life. tell some of those (from the past, even!) so we can all laugh! love #3, by the way. it's my new favorite use of a word.
Even when you're in a rut, I'm interested to read your blog - I've never known anyone else who could make being in a rut interesting like you can!
My idea for a post - your 5 (or 10) favorite things about being in Chile and your 5 things that you miss the most or want to do first when you get back.
Maybe my package will get to you this week. It might not be home, but its a little love from the U.S. Even if you were here-you'd probably be blogging the same thing. Ruts are everywhere-and in every phase of life! Trust me!
It's just January. Give February sometime to sink in. Everything will get better, but January is such a let down. I was in a rut the entire month too.
My girlfriend did a fun picture tag blog post. It was really cute. Do that. It's under LARA on my blog list.
Lynette, I love reading your blog & I am sorry you are in a rut. It will get better. Even your 'rut' blog I enjoyed reading. In fact, I check your blog everyday to see if you have posted. You have one of the best blogs I know. The rut will pass :-)
Lynette-
I still want to know how you function in a foriegn country where you are clueless 99% of the time?!?
Ruts are just the spirits way of telling you its time to break out of your shell and learn something new. With every rut comes a new understanding. As for blogging, everyone has that feeling about why would anyone want to hear about the same thing that happens everyday. But thats why your blogs are fun, they arent all about everyday stuff, there is always a spice that comes with it, a new twist on blogging. And it always surprises me how interested people are in other peoples lives, even if they think its nothing special. We all like to glimpse at other peoples lives and see how they are like ours, and how we can learn from others. Ok Ill stop rambling now!
