rollercoaster.

You might think all of this happened in one week, but no. This was one day.
(Sorry it's late. I've been working on my talk for tomorrow, in Spanish--yikes!)

My Roller Coaster : Thrilling Thursday

The Jerky Start: Ammon flew out of bed at 8:20 (late, really late). I tossed some clothes on Carly, gave her money for a school lunch, and rushed her out the door. She received her first tardy. I felt horrible (still do).

Incline & Initial Dip (wheeeeee!): I hosted Cooking Group and decided on a breakfast theme. We made the Beckstrom's Traditional Breakfast Casserole and Homemade Cinnamon Rolls (a real treat since they don't sell or make these here). Everything was super delish and it was fun just hanging out with my muchachas.

(Traditional Breakfast Casserole)

(Cinnamon Rolls)

(Did I mention we made 8 pans of rolls? Can we say gluttony?)

Backwards Vertical Loop (the scariest part--really gets the heart rate up): While we were cleaning up the kitchen I took a few rags outside to throw into the wash. When I lifted the lid, I saw a tail curl up along the side between the drum and the outer frame. My initial thought was that it was a lizard and my friend, Yamin, offered to grab it for me. She banged on the side of the washer and something darted out from underneath the washing machine and behind the dryer. Yamin began to move the dryer when all of the sudden a BIG, FAT RAT scurried back under the washing machine. We all screamed, someone jumped up and down (me), and then we scurried back inside. The droppings inside my washing machine confirmed it was a rat and I called Ammon for backup.

After persistent banging on the washing machine, Ammon doubting we really saw anything, and flipping the washer on it's side, the BIG, FAT RAT emerged. Ammon yelled and a game of whack-a-mole ensued. Unfortunately, we learned Ammon's not as quick and nimble as a rat, and it escaped into our neighbor's yard. Moments later, we heard loud growling and rustling down below. We think our neighbor's dog got the rat (atleast we're hoping that's what happened). Maybe we should have taken them a pan of Cinnamon Rolls... nah!

Corkscrews (yay!): Ammon's parents sent a highly anticipated Easter package and it was finally delivered. It was filled with Easter goodies, toys, and gifts. It was like a great big hug from home. Plus, the chocolate inside made the perfect cocktail after our rat fiasco. (Thank you Nana & Papa.)

Ride Exit (laughter and relief): Ammon had mutual so I missed a Relief Society party where they watched a video/interview of me trying to speak Spanish (ie: making a fool of myself). I was relieved I wasn't there to witness the laughter.

Man, I'm glad that ride is over. These days, I think I prefer the pace of the Merry-Go-Round.

I love that breakfast casserole. We still make it every Christmas for the missionaries. And the cinnamon roles look yummy.

Hooray for the neighbor's dog. And yes, you should take them something. Maybe not rolls, but at least a treat for the dog.

SOOOO glad that day is over! Well, not the food part as we are greatly craving the cinnamon rolls & ours are long gone. But the rat pretty much freaked me out (in case my screams weren't enought to inform you). Isn't it good that the girls were all at school? Can you imagine what it would have been like if they had been there while all of the moms were screaming? Wahoo for Yamin the brave & the rat-eating dog!

What an adventurous week! The food looks yummy and the story about the rat is hilarious, only because it wasn't me.

maybe you shouldnt have cooking parties anymore, I bet the rat thought he was invited and was waiting patiently for all the leftovers, wait, were there any left overs? And only a true blogger would take pictures to post later during that kind of moment.

That's hilarious!
Yuck! Rats! But, I did love the movie Rattatouilli (I know the spellings off).
Maybe the rat was trying to get to your yummy cinnamon rolls. :)
So, did you guys get some sticly traps or something?

Um, you definitely need to publish the cinnamon roll recipe and the breakfast casserole recipe, those look sooooo yummy.

Sorry about the rat...I guess you could always get a cat to help discourage those pesky critters :)
