an ending.

They say when you move to Antofagasta you cry. Then, when you move away, you cry again. Never in a million years would I have thought that a piece of my heart would belong to this city, but it forever will. In four days the movers will come and box up our life here in Chile and I'm filled with sadness and sorrow. Chile has become our home and leaving home is never an easy thing to do.
I'm going to miss...
listening to Carly speak Spanish
pretending to speak Spanish (me)
empanadas from the Florencia
our ocean view
kissing hello and goodbye
Ammon coming home for lunch
homemade pebre sauce
expat teas
friends
our ward
perfect 70ยบ weather year round
gelato, gelato, gelato
cooking club
the fruit juices
lucuma
the desert (San Pedro)
house calls from the doctor
Chilean primary children singing "Soy un Hijo de Dios"
the sun setting over the water
and Wesley saying "We're home" when we walk through the door.

There is a gazebo located downtown in Plaza Colon. Local legend states that if you walk through the tunnel beneath the gazebo you will one day return to Antofagasta. Ammon and I held hands, the kids skipping along a few steps in front of us, and together we walked through the tunnel. We hope the legend is true. We look forward to the day we are blessed with the opportunity to return home.

Chile was such a good chapter in your life story. Can't wait to hear the next one.
Hi Lynette! I found your blog through Tricia's. If you're moving to Singapore, I have a friend there who had been living here in Mexico City. She said there is a huge ward in Singapore and she would be happy to share information with you. Her e-mail address is kathryn.s.ramirez@gmail.com if you're interested. Good luck! Susan Reed
SUSAN!
Thanks so much for the email address. I'm glad that to hear that I'll be able to practice my Spanish in Singapore!
Ammon and Lynette,
We have enjoyed your adventures in Chile you are very lucky to have lived in such a beautiful place! However, I am very jealous that you get to go to Singapore. Not that I have ever been there, I just love southeast asia. I served my mission in the Philippines and Maddy and I have been to Thailand.
I love the food of southeast asia. You'll find the people to be kind. Plus its cheap! Well outside of Singapore that is. I think Singapore is the perfect base of operations. It is very safe and CLEAN (watch out fore the cane ;) and you are in a great location to fly to malyasia, thailand, vietnam etc. In thailand we recommend Bangkok of course and Koh Samui over Phuket!
I have loved learning about Chile through your eyes. I will miss it too! I hope you love Singapore just as much as Antofogasta.
well, you know what they say. home is where the heart is, so whereever your family goes, that's where home will be!
cheesy but true.
Such a beautiful place to have had the chance to live. I love the sun setting over the ocean. It is peaceful, tranquil and awe inspiring. What an exciting adventure you're off to next! Good luck with the packing and moving.
It went by so fast! I am sure that's what we'll say when you're done with Singapore too. Hope all your travelling goes well.
Hi stranger!! Your sister (Jeanette) randomly bumped into my in blogger world and I bumped into you through her! Fun finding people this way. I love your blog and love your writing. Sounds like y'all have had quite the life in Chile! Cody served his mission there and wants to go back one day too.
Oh sweetie!!!
I know you will miss it there...but you will be coming home to US and closer to all of us who wish to get to know you more...plus i can send a snail mail now and not pay an arm and a leg...I wish you safe travels and peace throughout the process.
