refuel.

The display panel on my car reads: '39 Miles to E, Fuel Level Low' and I can relate.
For the past month I've been running on fumes trying to get everything settled. For the house there was new paint, carpet, vanities, lighting, fence, and appliances. Then we had to establish new service with all of our utilities and buy two cars all while playing chauffeur to/from school, preschool, and ballet. It was enough to make a hormonal, lactating mother cry.
Finally, when we were ready, the movers came. Our Houston storage was delivered last Tuesday, our Singapore shipment arrived last Wednesday, and our missing Chile storage showed up last Thursday after a game of hide and seek.
We spent the weekend rummaging through a mountain of boxes trying to locate the essentials--sheets and towels. We never found them. But, we did unpack enough to make our home livable for the time being so we zipped up our suitcases and moved out of our temporary housing (i.e. my parent's house, God bless their patient, giving souls.)
And here's where we stand today.
This is my house.

It is a mess.

Every square inch of available space is occupied.
Nothing is where it should be.

And there are boxes, trash, new carpet fuzzies, and crumbs all over the place.
It's bad.
Real bad.
But today I'm am way too exhausted and too overwhelmed to deal with it. Instead, I think I'll catch up on sleep, browse through the 1000+ feeds in my reader, and snuggle with the yummiest baby on earth.

Sometimes we all need to stop and refuel.

oh, i miss you dear friend! that baby of yours is scrumptious.
That must be driving you nuts! But yes--take some time to just relax. There's plenty of time for unpacking and organizing. And I think your house looks GREAT. Love the appliances and the light fixture over the island--love YOU. And sweet Lexie! I love her too!
I have been waiting for this post!!! I wish I could come over right now and see you! Even your messy photographs look beautiful! :)
Why do you feel so close yet still so far away?
She is a yummy baby! I am glad you live close again so I can cuddle with her. Mine are too old to want to cuddle. :(
Hey girl!!! It's nice to see you in the car pool line (our quick little wave) :) What grade is Carly in? Cameron is in 2nd & Jake is in Kinder. Who's your teacher? Lexie is sooooo sweet looking. You are making me want another one. :)
Oh, yeah I forgot to mention! I love the wall color. What color paint is that? And the stainless appliances. Your house always looks so nice. Straight out of magazine! You need to share some decorating tips with me and your blogging friends. :)
She's gorgeous Lynette. Nothing is more urgent than that.
Welcome back to TX Lynette! Can I tell you how much I can relate to this post? We moved to Austin this past summer when my youngest (of 4) was 6 months old and the chaos etc. of moving almost killed me. My house is STILL being unpacked/decorated/cleaned and we've been here almost 7 months now. I think I never want to move again and can't imagine doing it from overseas. You definitely need some refueling time. Take it!
Welcome home! Well, I am sure it will feel a bit more like home as you keep going through all those boxes. I tried to reach you at your parent's house but I see how busy you are!!! Your house looks great even with the little crumbs. Looking forward to seeing you.

Too cute. "Welcome home." I hope you find some time to relax and refuel.
We moved when Morgan was 2 months old so I can relate. It's been 6 months and things still aren't completely in their place yet. But we're getting there. It took us this much time and only moved from one city to another--not from across the continent!
It's perfectly okay to take your time getting things organized. (Though I know it must be driving you crazy!)
I think sometimes we all need reminders to take a break and "refuel."
So excited to see you blogging again! I won't demand too much because I understand the craziness, but good to have you back. And oh, more pictures of Lexie please! She's precious.
Bless you! Living out of boxes and storage and not being settled is awful. I hope everything is in order for you guys soon.
I am glad you are re-fueling and there is no better fuel than snuggles from your beautiful and perfect baby!
Thanks again for the containers and bedding. The sugar you left in their saved us after we got back and we were making cookies but didn't have any.
Craig says I turn into a cranky nazi when we move. Moving is my nemesis, so I can relate to the stress that comes from it! It sounds like you've handled it pretty darn well considering that you moved from another country and have a newborn! I think you're doing great!
Lynette - it was good to chat with you. Boxes, moving, new mom, wow - overwhelming but how wonderful for you to be home. Loved the pictures of the children. Thanks for inviting me to keep up with you through your blog. I will probably stalk you quite often - lol.
Take care!
It's good to have you back! Yeah!
glad you have a chance to just relax with a cute baby....oh and the house looks great....welcome back to texas!
I'm in LOVE with your wall color. I think your house looks great and you definitely need to relax and snuggle that baby some more!
If you pay for my flight I will come and organize EVERYTHING for you AND take care of the children!!! It's a thought :)
I LOVE that last photo of Lexie! :) I know it might not feel like it now, but your house looks like it's going to be amazing! And I have no question about your ability to clean and organize!
