there is a green hill far away.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)

This has always been one of my favorite hymns. The words are simple and succinct yet they evoke such strong emotions of reverence and gratitude. Unfailingly, this hymn inspires me to be more Christ-like and more worthy of His sacrifice.

Lynette... I saw your posting off of Marie's blog when I clicked on your name. I hope you don't mind? I just want to say I loved reading your blog. I love your Sunday postings. Especially, since I am at work and can't make it to church. -April

Lynette, this is my very favorite Sacrament hymn. I love it! Great choice.

I love that Sacrament hymn too. Maybe because it gets to the Sacrament faster which means my kids have a higher chance of being good throughout the whole thing.

I love that version you posted. It's so pretty. The painting is beautiful, too. That has always been one of my favorite songs also.

we used to sing this song in young women all the time - because it was so short and good!

I have to admit, I used to hate that song. In my misspent youth, my favorite hymns were the marching songs, like battle hymn of the republic, onward christian soldiers, and called to serve.

As I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate and love the more reverent ones even more. This is now one of my favorites also.
