lights, camera, action.

This is all the buzz in Antofagasta.

"ANTOFAGASTA, Chile — It looks like the surface of Mars. The rust-colored rolling hills of the Atacama desert appear alien, devoid of life — just sand and dirt and rock baked into vast, barren slopes that stretch endlessly into the bruised horizon.

Against this unforgiving backdrop, Daniel Craig is exploring the merciless side of James Bond. Quantum of Solace is the 22nd film in the 007 franchise, Craig's second after 2006's blockbuster Casino Royale, and the first true sequel to a Bond film, picking up the story just minutes after the previous film ends.

The movie, opening Nov. 7, is about halfway through filming. They've been to Panama and Baja California, Mexico, with plans to shift next to Italy and Austria before returning to London's famed Pinewood Studios for more stage shooting.

The action sequence shot in the Chilean desert last week is a turning point for the embittered superspy, his chance to discover whether his thirst for vengeance will turn him into the same kind of cold-blooded killer as the people he is fighting." USA TODAY

The crazy thing is, Ammon and I were just talking about how Antofagasta would make a great location to shoot movies. The desert is unlike anything I've ever seen, the weather is perfect and predictable, and the beaches are beautiful and remote. The very next day, we heard that they would be filming Quantum of Solace here. Crazy, right?!

Sidenote: I haven't seen Daniel Craig, but I have seen the paparazzi stalking the Florencia Hotel and it's rumored that he might stay in a house down the street from me. If so, I might have to take Wesley for a little walk and try to get a few paparazzi photos of my own!

L-L-LOVE him as James Bond - I think he's the best one ever. My dh gave me Casino Royale for Christmas. I hope you see him and get some great pictures. Can't wait for this movie to come out. What a cool place to live in and experience for awhile.

I know several people who have seen him at the Florencia (employees and other guests), so I'm guessing he's not in Jardines del Sur... unless he's spending time between the 2 locations- who knows!

If you get a good shot could be worth a million dollars.
