December 2, 2009

any day now.

Baby countdown 2009 is officially on. I've been on bed rest (i.e. laying in bed with my legs crossed) for the past two weeks after going into preterm labor.

Sorry for my lack of posts, but when I sit at the computer for more than five minutes I begin to get some serious, painful (i.e. seriously painful) contractions and back to bed I go. But, my doctor is back in town now and I feel like if I go into labor again I'll be in good hands. I have an appointment to see him this Friday so I'll keep you 'posted.'

Posted. Get it?

Anyway, here's a couple of videos of the kids from the past couple of weeks. First is Wesley's End of Year Preschool Program. He was so cute! I wasn't sure how well he'd know the dance as he only went to two rehearsals, but for a 3 year old I think he did a fantastic job. Of course, I'm totally infatuated with my little man so even if he stood there and cried the entire time, I still would have given him a standing ovation.

(FYI--these videos break my normal '30 second video' rule, but they are primarily for grandparents so don't feel obligated to watch the entire clip.)

Next is Carly's Thanksgiving Program at school. It was a brief little skit that her class performed for the parents before their 'feast.' Carly had a speaking part that she took very seriously and again, I was beaming with pride.

And last but not least, I've added a little video of the Chinese dances performed by some of the older children at Wesley's preschool.

As I watched these charming dances my eyes filled with tears. Suddenly I realized that in just a few, short weeks we'll be leaving Singapore and saying goodbye to the people, places, and culture we've grown to love.

Worried, Ammon looked at me and asked, "Are you okay?"

I nodded yes and then answered, "I'm just sad our adventures are coming to an end."

Then, Ammon held my hand and whispered into my ear.

"They're not ending, they'll just be different adventures."

And with a baby due any day now, I know he's right.

I'm sure it has got to be hard! I would be sad too. Ammon's response reminded me of the movie UP!

Your kids are awesome! And YOU are too. I can't imagine bed rest with two little kids at home. I hope everything's okay and that everything goes well with your delivery. Can't wait to hear more!

When I watched Wesley's dance, my first thought (besides how cute he is and how much he looks like Ammon)was "This is like the Singapore version of the Chicken dance."

I know it must be so sad to leave a place you've grown to love. But many family and friends will be happy that you are back. And you will have many more adventures. :)

I promise to not bug you with "is the baby here yet?" I've learned from experience that this is really annoying. Anyway, I hope you survive your time on bed rest. I really can't imagine how much that sucks.

Our thoughts are with you. :)

I loved seeing the children doing their dances and speaking parts! They are so adorable! Of course, they are my grandchildren! We know you will be sad to leave Singapore, but we are so excited to have you coming back home! We have really missed you! Ammon is right- new adventures are beginning! That's true of every stage of life. Take care, I love you! Mom
