a new year.

Sugie has been my nickname for as long as I can remember. As my mother tells it, she blessed me with the name during a late-night feeding. Cradled in her arms, she rested soft kisses upon my cheek and whispered, "You are as sweet as sugar. My little sugie." And, in an instant, Sugie was born.
The name has followed me throughout the years. It's been somewhat of a secret, reserved for family and close friends only. But now I'm sharing it with you, and my blog.
As 2011 ushered in there was a definite buzz across the blogosphere. Resolutions and goals appeared at the top of every page, but I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye. When I looked back over the year I was overwhelmed with gratitude. 2010 was filled with happiness and love and there was so much that I wanted to hold on to--so many blessings, so much goodness.
But the time has come to let go and start anew. For "this day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays." So, this is my tribute to 2010 and my promise to 2011, to cherish life and document it more often. Simply, to share the things that are as sweet as sugar--or, sugie.
Post script: One of my official goals this year is to post twice a week. Wish me luck!

Welcome Sugie!
Good luck on your new year goals, blogging and otherwise. For my sake I hope you keep the blogging one as I love your entries and miss them muchly.
I love how you got your nickname! That is so sweet.
Does this mean that you'll be blogging again? I like that! And your nickname. :)
YAY! So shoogie? Where the two O's are like the sound in book?
emilie,
exactly like shoogie!
there's a funny story where my nephew was naming all of his aunts. there's colette, jeanette, annette, suzette, and when he got to me he took a long pause and said,"and... sugette?" i laughed so hard over that. most of my younger nephews and nieces only know me by sugie and i'm sure one day, when i'm old and gray, i'll be lovingly known as grandma sugie.
Welcome back Sugie! I'm so happy you're blogging again...it's been far too long!
xo
Anytime you feel the need to post something, let me know and I'll gladly take the kids. Small price to pay for more sugie.
I've never heard the 'Sugette' story, that is too funny!
Good luck!
And how in the world does Ammon have the sweetest comments in the whole world? I think he might be the best husband EVER.
2010 has been a wonderful year especially since we get to see three of our grandchildren more (and you and Ammon)
