R is for Rodeo

Today we went to the Rodeo, or rather, the carnival at the rodeo. In an effort to help Carly learn her letters, we've been trying something new. I stole the idea from my friend Angie's blog, and we've been doing a lot of, "A is for Apple, and B is for Bear" ever since. So, in honor of the Houston Rodeo, here are a few of the letters we learned today!

C is for Carnival,Cotton Candy, and Corn on the Cob.

Cotton candy is a MUST at the carnival...and apparently in Houston so is corn on the cob. Don't ask me why...I don't really get it. It did remind me, however, a little bit of Nacho Libre.

F is for Fried Foods.

Ok, here's the list of unique fried foods we saw while we were there.
  • Pickles
  • Cheesecake
  • Coca-cola
  • Dr. Pepper
  • Cookie Dough
  • Brownies
  • Twinkies
  • Cheese
  • Oreos--we tried these. They get *** 3 out of 5 stars.
  • Tootsie Rolls
  • Snickers--we also tried these. They get ***** 5 out of 5 stars! Oh, my!!!

(They also has the regulars like: corn dogs, funnel cakes, chicken, french fries, and onion rings.)

L is for Lines.

Ammon and I discovered a way to trim the time Carly had to wait in line. He would wait in a shorter line with Carly while I would go to the longer line and wait. This way, Carly spent less time in line and got to enjoy more rides.

R is for Rodeo, Roller-Coaster, and Rip-off!

Parking.....$12.00

Admittance.....$15.00

28 tickets.....$20.00

Lunch/Food....$30.00

The look of excitement on Carly's face...priceless!

(The "rip-off" part comes from having to pay Admittance and also for each and every ride-which they charged us double on for the rides where she was too small to go alone--like the bumper cars).

S is for Slide and Smash (look-out!)

Carly loved the big, bumpy slides. On one of her trips down, the little girl who went before her began walking up the slide. Before anyone could stop it---SMASH! Whoops!

Y is for YE-HAW!

Carly might not have been born in Texas, but she got here as fast as she could!

Angie,
Yes! They were like a little piece of melted heaven! All of the chocolate, caramel, and nougat melted together inside of the fried batter-yummy!

SO can you explain the fried Dr Pepper to me and Josh? Thats a new concept to us. You tried the fried snickers? Macaroni grill has a similar thing, served with ice cream. Genious!
