tour.

Our house is a work in progress. I've actually thought about posting pictures for some time now, but I've hesitated because it's not finished.
Well, frankly, I'm not sure when it will be "finished."
After all, one's decor is something that is always growing and evolving, right?
So, without further ado... Welcome to our home.

{our house from the street}

Our front door is down the steps and to the left.

I was so lucky to find such a beautiful Christmas wreath in Antofagasta.

{living room}
We are waiting on our TV stand to be delivered this week. Keep your fingers crossed!

99% of what you see was purchased in Antofagasta. We shipped only the essentials {toys & bedding} and some small pictures {large ones were not allowed} to help it feel like home.

{dining room}

{patio and view from dining room}

{kitchen}
In general, kitchens here are small... a departure from my spacious kitchen back in Katy.

{stairs up to the second level}

{second floor bathroom}

{Wesley's room}
All of the bedroom closets have built-in shelves and drawers so the only thing in the kids rooms are their beds... kinda boring.

{Carly's room}
This room makes me so sad. Without Carly's bed, bookcase, chest of drawers, little princess chair, and Pottery Barn Butterfly Mobile, her room seems bare. Any ideas?

{playroom}

{stairs up to the master bed & bath}

{master bedroom}
In case you're wondering about all the phones, there is an explanation.
The phone mounted on the wall is the intercom and buzzer to allow people inside the gate.
Then, we have one phone for Antofagasta and one for Houston.

{master bath}

This is my laundry room!
It's probably the only place where I feel like I'm living in another country. Since it only rains once every seven years or so, the laundry is outside.
Dryers are new to Antofagasta {2 years}. I'd say the majority of people here still line dry their clothes.

Thanks for taking the tour. Now all we need is real visitors!

I am so excited you posted pictures. I love it! You have done a great job of decorating even with the little amount of things that you brought. I love the dining room, I think that's my favorite room with the B on the wall. I also love the sofa, looks comfy! What an amazing view as well. I'm so happy for you! Hugs, A

PS- We drove by your old house last night. It made me sad to think you're not there. On a happy note it looks well maintained. :)

Wow! Lynette it looks so good! Once again another thing you are VERY talented with. Everything you touch turns beautiful. The only people I've ever said that to are you and my mom. It looks so clean and fresh and I love all the decor especially the collage in the dining area and the trees.
You should be very proud of your home!

Yay! Lynette posted pics! Love your house and your decorations! You have good taste. And besides the laundry "room," you're right, it doesn't really like you're living in another country on different continent. I think it's great that you get to have this experience. It's not permanent, and I'm sure it's going to be such a great experience and an adventure.

lynette, it's BEAUTIFUL! I can't believe your view! i love the light fixtures, love the pictures by your dining room table (and letter B, so pretty, where did you get it?), love your bedroom, love it. it looks so nice! and i just can't get over that view. for carly's room something like this might be fun. isaac has the train ones, and they just peel off and you can restick them (no wallpaper paste or tape or anything).

Emily,
I bought the black letter at Archivers {just $10.} I think they have one in Provo/Orem. But, you can also buy them here... but then you'd have to pay shipping! Maybe the drive down to Orem is worth it.

I LOVE home tours! Thanks. I love the beams in the living room, the fantastic view and your quaint kitchen (we had one like it in Boston). It all looks very nice. (Although I fully understand only working with a little bit of YOUR decorations. We're doing the same thing right now!)

Some fun/easy ideas for the kiddie bedrooms: *colorful flag banners that you hang from one corner to another
*the wall decals is a great idea: we love chalkboard decals..[wall candy art]
*a mobile could be really cute (there are SO many that aren't baby-ish but rather really cool art).
*Do you sew? I love the idea of giant pillows stacked in a corner.. to be used like bean bags.

how do you do links inside your comments?

Thanks for posting the pics-now I don't have to imagine anymore what your place looks like! The washer dryers remind me of living overseas too-at least you have a small family! Love the look of everything-don't worry about going crazy with decor-you might only be there 8 more months!!!

1. I love the trees. Where did you get them
2. I love your house! It looks great. You have such great style.
3. The playroom is my favorite room in the house
4. Visitors? Sign us up!
and
5. How many stamps do you think I need to put on our Christmas card to get to you?

Ammon said...

Maddy,
I got the trees as a store here called Paris. I think they were $4-$8 for the set!
Also, 90 cents should get a traditional card here.

Stop it! $4-$8?? I am so jealous!

I think I put 3 stamps on, so it should be good.

if you're right next to the ocean, how come it never rains?

Emily,
I don't know. It's weird though, right?! It's apparently the driest desert in all the world.

Wow! I see why you miss this house! Amazing! Thanks for sending me the link!

I can't believe it rains once every seven years...that seems impossible to someone who grew up in oregon...
